“I was a late bloomer when it came to consistently working out. I didn’t really get serious until I was in my early 40’s…but even then I never was able to maximize my potential. I fluctuated back and forth in my weight and my workouts, lacking a direction. Things changed for me about three years ago when I made a New Years commitment to change. I met with Jim in late January and from that point on I moved forward under his guidance and direction. Jim helped me to establish and focus on my goals. Jim reeducated me about food and the helped me to develop more efficient eating habits. It was tough at first, and I struggled not to fall back into my old habits. Jim helped me to stick with it with his support and motivation. Well all I can say, is I’ll be 50 years old in 8 weeks and I’m in the best shape I’ve ever been in, in my life. I could not have gotten there without the help of Jim Hart.”

“I have been working with Jim Hart as both a trainer and workout partner for more than 10 years. Jim has not only encouraged me, but has helped me develop my body beyond what I thought was possible, and more importantly has helped me maintain this condition to this day. I still turn heads at the gym, and am constantly asked the (annoying) question…how old are you? In addition to working with me on my physical development, Jim has also been a constant source of information and guidance on maintaining a healthy lifestyle, especially when it comes to diet and nutrition. Without Jim by my side, I probably would be 65 going on 75, rather than 65 going on 40!”

“As I’m about to turn 66 years of age, I find that I have some aches and pains that can be expected at this age. Especially with a history of arthritis and several surgeries. Although I have periods of when I can’t work out at the gym, I still hear Jim Hart’s voice in my ear saying "do whatever you can". So in those times I take very long walks with a friend on the beach and boardwalk in New Jersey. Or I ride my bike several miles around the park or through the city. I’m grateful for Jim’s voice urging me on. "Don’t stop, keep going, do what you can do." That, along with a great diet and eating habits, developed over the years with Jim, even in down times I can maintain my weight. Though the aches and pains come and go, there’s a consistent general good, healthy feeling.”

“You know the expression, "You’re not getting older, you’re getting better"—that describes my 5 years of training with Jim Hart. At age 57, I am in the best physical shape of my life. This fact was incredibly significant to me this past year when I developed a chronic illness(MS). My recovery has been accelerated by my physical condition. I work 12 hour days, and, believe me, I don’t always feel like going to the gym. However, Jim always provides interesting, changing, and challenging exercise routines as well as regular queries about my diet on that particular day.”

“I’ve been working out with Jim for almost three months now. I’ve lost 34 pounds and feel and look better than I have in years. Jim is a great motivator, has helped me with my nutritional challenges, and is highly knowledgeable when it comes to diet and exercise. I’ve lost weight before, but I always seem to put it back. I really feel that what I’ve learned from Jim, I’ll be able to maintain this weight loss. But the biggest plus for me is dealing with my failed back surgery syndrome. I have a very physically challenging job, and my back problems were routinely getting in the way of work. Honestly, since I’ve started working with Jim, my flexibility, strength and stamina have improved 100 percent and the pain has become much less of an issue. “

“I have worked with Jim since 2006. I had gained a lot of weight after going back to school at age 44. Instead of the Freshman 15 I gained the Freshman 45! I went to the gym religiously and lost about 20 pounds and hit a plateau. I had heard about Jim and how he worked with people my age and older. After working with Jim I lost another 30 pounds and have been able keep it off for the last three years. Jim tailors your workout to your abilities and needs and his nutrition advice is unmatched. Not only are your workouts important but your eating habits are most important to reaching your goals. Mr Hart will take you on a shopping trip and teach what to buy and achieve those goals. He also recommends keeping a food diary which helps you avoid bad eating habits. I find it helpful because I have to show him what I ate for the week before I work out. Jim is a great motivator who will push you to do things that you wouldn’t do for yourself. There is a reason Jim is consistently rated one of the top 100 trainers in the country and I feel very privileged to work with him. At age 52 I feel I am in the best shape of my life and I am amazed at how I can now handle very difficult workouts on a consistent basis.”

“Revising exercise and eating patterns in my late 60s created a whole new "me," with improved skin and hair texture, ideal weight, better posture and enhanced self confidence. (And an ego plus from others: "You’re how old? You look 10 years younger!") With initial guidance of a fitness trainer [Jim Hart] who knows the older body, I adopted a varied pattern of exercises that helped reach new levels of muscle tone and good feelings. These exercises mix calisthenics, weights, exercise balls, running (on inside track) and swimming. I always ate well, but I reduced portions at all meals, cut back on meat, modified drinking habits and significantly added to an already healthy quantity of salads, vegetables and especially fruits. I also try to use positive language in conversations, stay connected with all ages and pay compliments every chance I get. Feeling good and sharing good feelings is a healthy combination for me.”

“Jim was one of only a few people I trusted, as did my doctors who knew of him by reputation, to help me survive a shattered left shoulder and worse, a serious medical malpractice surgical accident that left me in chronic pain, facial paralysis, and mind numbing muscle pain in my shoulders and neck . The shoulder injury required three plates and 8 screws and was performed by Barbara Friedman, MD one of the world famous Rothman groups of orthopedic surgeons in Philadelphia. The PT therapist knew Jim also by reputation and advised me to work with him to increase mobility and range of motion. I was in my early 50’s otherwise in excellent shape but in terrible pain. Jim modified our regular routine so I could work the shoulder without pain for several months. He was aggressive, knowing when I simply couldn’t bear any more ‘pain’ for gain. And it worked. Dr. Friedman who has performed over a 1,000 surgeries noted in my chart that my aggressive treatment resulted in 98% restoration. An unsurpassed record – And recommends Jim to other patients. Of course diet and stretching and a good mental mind set help, and Jim would call to check up on me. The holistic approach achieved measurable medical results. The unfortunate nerve injury required 5 in hospital surgical procedures performed by Joseph Foote DMD, MD who has a national reputation for nerve and maxiollfacial accidents at the University Of Pennsylvania Hospital.(HUP) A leading authority on neuropathic pain triggered by the brains pain center He strongly encouraged me to continue my twice weekly workouts, more if I could handle it, and push my body to the limit, not to become the most muscular man at the gym (the doc has seven kids and is personally interested in complementary medicine) but rather to maximize my strength to fight pain. My neurologist at Penn Medicine insisted I stay with my workout routine and push myself. She also suggested Yoga and steam. (In my chart she noted I looked many years younger than my actual age) I am a long term patient at Penn Pain Medicine and have access to the best medical treatment and trials available in medicine today. I know what my tests show, but my body tells a different story. My body is strong, muscular and winning the fight of debilitating pain and depression, my advice: Never stop eating right, never stop working out find a trainer the others wish they were but don’t have the drive to be the best…. you never know what can happen. The lawsuit gave me money; Jim gave me a life worth having back.”

“I began working out with Jim shortly after my 44th birthday, about 7 years ago. I had heard nothing but praise for him, so it was a no brainer that Jim would be my personal trainer. Today, I too extol Jim. He is attentive to my goals, yet sensitive to the challenges of middle age, and underscores the important links between diet, exercise and health. He has turned my weaknesses into strengths. I always looked forward to my workouts with Jim, and anticipate looking forward to many more years of workouts.”

“When I turned 50, I looked into having a trainer at 12th St. Gym and Jim Hart was recommended. Jim’s sessions with me were always focussed and structured for results. Along with the workouts, he explained other aspects of healthy living, and before long I was much more aware of my diet day-to-day. His shopping trips helped me become more skeptical of "healthy" claims on packaging, and the desire to find the true healthy value in food items. I developed a much more balanced approach to fitness with Jim, resulting in cardio and diet aware- ness that supplement my weight training. Jim always provided a safe, rational and realistic framework that anyone can benefit from.”

“Jim made me realize that my previous workout routine was only minimally effective. His guidance in the gym has increased my energy level, and his information about food and nutrition has been key to maintaining my good health.”
